Expertise

Research interests:

  • Explore how various population segments experience differential access to environmental resources
  • Understand how such disparities impact health behaviors (e.g. physical activity) and outcomes (e.g. obesity, chronic disease)
  • Develop and implement tools and interventions to promote equitable participation that promotes health and well-being at the individual and community levels.

My primary research focuses on determining the effects of park or nature-based physical activity on the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases including mental illness, diabetes and cancer.

My lab also has developed a suite of technologies to facilitate park prescription interventions by connecting health care systems to community physical activity resources.
