Expertise

Dr. DiMarchi’s contribution in chemistry and related sciences consists of nearly four decades of work in academics, the pharmaceutical industry, and biotechnology.

His current research is focused on developing macromolecules with enhanced therapeutic properties through biochemical and chemical optimization, an approach he has termed chemical-biotechnology. His academic research has broadened the understanding of glucagon physiology while championing the discovery of single molecule mixed agonists for the treatment of diabetes and obesity.

Richard DiMarchi has distinguished himself in pharmaceutical, academic, and biotechnology circles of scientific investigation.

The most visible therapeutic contributions from DiMarchi’s laboratory pertain to the field of endocrinology, and more specifically diabetes.

Richard DiMarchi has been extremely active in advancing biotechnology in academic and commercial ventures, especially as it relates to macromolecules and in particular peptides, proteins and anti-sense.
