Dr. Saye's current research interests follow three lines: (1) factors affecting teachers' responses to innovation, (2) novice and veteran teachers' conceptions of social studies teaching, and (3) development of teaching strategies and curriculum materials that promote higher-order thinking and active student learning. Dr. Saye's teaching interests center on the development of thoughtful secondary social studies classrooms through a focus on persistent public problems and policy issues.
