Expertise

Our group is pursuing new discoveries in science and technology, specifically in the areas of nano-structured polymers, nanocarbons, composites and the related applications in chemical vapor/liquid sensors, organic displays, fuel cells and alternative energy harvesting and storage.

  • Optically transparent, conducting films of carbon nanotubes on flexible substrates for device application, such as flexible display and organic solar cells
  • Fabrication of individual polymer nanofiber/nanotube devices for chemical vapor or analyte sensors and field effect transistors
  • Synthesis and characterization of biocompatible polymers for use as nanoparticulate drug carriers for controlled and targeted drug delivery
  • Green approaches to polymer/metal and nanocarbon/metal catalysts for fuel cell applications
  • Synthesis and characterization of conducting polymer nanotubes/nanofibers and composites with noble metals. Investigate their role in catalysis, capacitive energy and hydrogen storage

* Fundamental research in molecular self assembly using seeding methods Conducting polymers, carbon nanotubes, sensors, nanocarbons, energy storage and harvesting.

Research Interests:

  • Microwave initiated ultrafast nanomanufacturing for hierarchical, multifunctional nanomaterials and nanocomposites: carbon nanotubes, metal chalcogenides etc.
  • Multifunctional polymer coating for anti-corrosion and anti-microbial applications
  • Green approach to conducting polymer nanotubes/nanofibers and nanocomposites with metals nanoparticles for catalysis, sensing and energy storage
  • Optically transparent, conducting films of carbon nanotubes on flexible substrates for device application, such as flexible display and organic solar cells
