His research and publications include three principle areas: 1) ankle biomechanics, evaluation of ankle Instability, computer generated 3-D ankle evaluation; 2) clinical and applied exercise physiology; and 3) exercise and functional rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injury.

Dr. Kovaleski is currently working on the use of instrumented measurement of human ankle laxity and stiffness in ankle braces and in the development of a robotic gait training system with closed-loop foot initiated kinematics control.
