My research focuses on the application of operations research methods to logistical issues that arise in humanitarian operations. My early work in this area addresses inventory pre-positioning and management policies for relief items that are distributed to disaster survivors. More recently, my focus has been on the development and evaluation of operational policies for managing spontaneous volunteers during post-disaster relief efforts, and also on the optimization food bank logistics operations.
