His research interests include understanding the pathways linking stress, sleep, and social factors (social support, relationship quality) to cardiovascular disease risk. He is also interested in understanding the mechanisms linking early life adverse experiences such as abuse and neglect to physical health.
His work is highly interdisciplinary, as he employs theory and methods from clinical psychology, health psychology and sleep science to understand how poor sleep, stress and emotion dysregulation are associated with cardiovascular disease risk. He studies these risk factors for cardiovascular disease among individuals and within the context of close relationships such as marriage. He is also interested in understanding the mechanisms linking early life adverse experiences such as abuse and neglect to physical health.
Our research employs theory and methods from clinical psychology, health psychology and sleep science to understand how poor sleep, stress and emotion dysregulation are associated with cardiovascular disease risk.
