His research interests in experimental aerodynamics and solid mechanics include luminescent coatings, low Reynolds number flows, fluid-structure interactions and micro air vehicles.
Our research focuses on developing and applying innovative measurement techniques, as well as established experimental methods, to study fundamental problems in the field of aerodynamics and solid mechanics.
Of particular interest are
- aerodynamic and structural characterization of wings/geometries associated with low Reynolds number flows and MAVs, and
- novel full-field techniques employing molecular luminescence to quantify surface strain, heat flux, temperature, pressure, and shear stress.
Current research is investigating high-speed PSPs and LPCs, low Re rotor-wing interactions, and passive flow control with surface microflaps.
