In addition to university teaching, her career in science has included scientific research and biotechnology marketing. She has bench science experience in infectious disease research at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), breast cancer research at Vanderbilt University, and human growth hormone and polycystic ovarian syndrome research at Northwestern University.
