Specialty: Biocultural Medical Anthropology
My current dissertation project focuses on the social ecological influences of HIV risk knowledge and behavior among African American adolescent female teens and emerging female adults in the Southeast.
More specifically, I am interested in the role that social ecology plays in creating risk or providing protection from HIV diagnoses.
Research interests include child and adolescent development, health disparities in minority communities, public health, community-based participatory research, applied anthropology, and health outcomes of marginalized communities in the United States and the Caribbean.
