Her research interests are in the area of Green chemistry and technology include using room temperature ionic liquids as alternative solvents to process chitinous and lignocellulosic biomass and extract/separate valuable polysaccharides; producing composite membranes and fibers and discover their industrial applications; and developing technologies to recycle ionic liquids from different processing applications. She is also interested in the development of environmentally responsive smart drug delivery devises using natural or functionalized biopolymers.
