  • High Temperature Ceramic Processing
  • In situ TEM
  • Materials Chemistry

Wang’s research focuses on the synthesis and processing-structure-property relationship study of oxides, emission control catalysts, catalyst support materials, and energy conversion/storage materials (fuel cell and battery etc.). Currently, the group focuses on the following research topics:

  • Shape/size-controlled synthesis of metal oxides
  • Emission control catalysts; support structure effect in metal-oxide catalysis
  • Materials for energy capture, storage, and conversion
  • Metal recycling
  • High temperature ceramics processing
  • In situ/Operando TEM study of dynamic gas-solid catalysis and solid-solid reactions at atomic level
  • Atomic level transmission electron microscopy and spectroscopy of solid-state materials

Our current focus areas include mechanistic studies of oxide nanocrystal formation and reactivity, emission control catalysts, catalyst support materials, and designing materials and devices with adequate properties of energy capture, conversion and storage (solar/fuel cell and battery etc.).
