Her teaching and research focus primarily on African American History, Black women’s history, Black girlhood, and African American organizing. Her current manuscript explores the political mobilization of Black sorority women from the 1930s through the 1960s.


Current Research: African American History, Women's and Gender

Brooke A. Thomas is a doctoral candidate in history at Rutgers University-New Brunswick specializing in African American history. Her research explores continuity and change in the Black clubwomen’s movement during the 20th century. Her dissertation focuses on the political organizing and engagement of Black women’s organizations from the mid- 1930s through the 1960s
