Expertise

Chase Wrenn’s research has focused on issues about the nature and value of truth, knowledge, and the nature of thought.

His most recent book is The True and the Good: A Strong Virtue Theory of the Value of Truth (Oxford 2023). In it, he defends the view that we can understand truth's value independently of its nature, by recognizing truthfulness as a moral virtue.

His first book, Truth, published in 2015, evaluates classic and contemporary theories of truth, with special emphasis on how well they account for truth in science and ethics and how well they account for the value of true belief.
