Developmental toxicology, particularly the causes and prevention of birth defects. Current research involves:
- studies of the mechanisms by which chemical agents cause birth defects in mammals, including humans,
- improvement of methods for evaluation of the potential of chemical agents to cause developmental toxicity,
- studies of the relationship of maternal nutritional status to the production of birth defects by toxic chemicals.
