Professor Jones' current research interest is in physics education. He is coordinator of the department's developing studio physics program, and is studying the impact of different teaching techniques on student learning. Stan is a co-editor of the Forum on Education Newsletter for the American Physical Society. He has in the past worked in the area of theory and phenomenology of elementary particles, including superstring theory and the analysis of soft hadronic processes, and on the application of perturbative QCD to the description of processes involving heavy quarks. After an extended appointment as Assistant Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, he has recently returned and now chairs the department.
