Expertise
  • My research interests span the fields of tick neurobiology, molecular biology and physiology, with a specific focus on neural control of tick salivary glands. Using peptidomic, genomic and/or immnunostainig I am also mapping neuropeptides and their (GPCR) receptors in various tick’s organs. The long-term goal of my research is to improve the molecular understanding of life processes in ticks and elucidate how tick neuropeptides may be manipulated for superior tick control.
  • Major research areas: 1. Immunohistochemical mapping of multiple neuropeptides in tick central nervous system and other tissues. 2. Peptidomic and Genomic of tick neuropeptides. 3. Neural control of tick salivary glands. 4. Neuropeptides, catecholamines and their receptors in salivary gland control: Myoinhibitory peptide (MIP), SIFamide, dopamine and their receptors in salivary gland control.
