Dr. Kumar’s current research focuses towards unraveling the pathogenic mechanism of of E.coli as well as identifying potential vaccine candidate to prevent infections. His previous work during PhD was focused on the pathogenic mechanism of Fusobacterium necrophorum that causes foot rot and liver abscesses in cattle and is a major concern in animal industry. His doctoral research resulted in identification of an outer membrane protein of F. necrophorum which can be used as a potential vaccine candidate and has been patented.
