Research Interests: Environmental monitoring, grassland phenology and trends, surface water resources, military training land sustainability, agricultural biosecurity, GIScience, biogeography, remote sensing, cartography and visualization, France.
I am a geographer and environmental scientist who seeks to maximize the power of GIS, remote sensing, and computational methods for near real-time environmental monitoring, evaluate and forecast landscape metrics characterizing the sustainability of working lands, and to assess agricultural biosecurity hazards at regional and national scales.
Hutchinson does research in Hydrology, Remote Sensing and Geoinformatics (GIS). My most current research is looking at trends in grassland vegetation and near surface soil moisture in the U.S. Great Plains.
