Dr. Aistrup is currently working several research projects including policy research on defining the available labor pool in states and labor sheds, an environmental policy analysis projecting the long-term viability of the Ogallala Aquifer in Western Kansas, a study of the relationship between constituency diversity and party competition at the county level in the U.S., and an analysis detailing the shifting nature of party competition in state legislatures in the American South.

Dr. Aistrup teaches courses in American politics, southern politics, political parties, elections and voting, state and local government, public policy development, planning and analysis, and research and survey methods.
