Expertise

Research Interests:

  • Cardiorespiratory disease
  • Respiration
  • Microcirculation
  • Structure and function of the diaphragm

Our laboratory uses a range of novel and established strategies (e.g., nitrate supplementation, altered oxidant state, dietary fish oil) to alter tissue oxygenation and impact metabolic control.

Research:

  • Kinesiology and Anatomy & Physiology – Studies oxygen transport with respect to vascular and microcirculatory control and the matching of oxygen delivery to the energetic requirements of tissues in health and disease

Keywords: Exercise physiology, cardiorespiratory disease, microcirculation, respiration

Areas of expertise:

  • Integrative and Systems Physiology/Pathophysiology
    • Oxygen transport pathway, exercise capacity, cardiovascular control and muscle function
    • Cardiovascular and microcirculatory physiology and nitric oxide biology
