Area(s) of Specialization:

  • Bacterial genetics; Evolution of microbial interactions, cooperation, and virulence.

Research interests:

  • Evolution of cooperative pathogenesis and avirulent cheating
  • Conjugation, quorum sensing and virulence plasmid dynamics
  • Facultative pathogen virulence evolution and epidemiology

We study the ecological and genetic factors influencing the evolution of facultative bacterial pathogens as well as the disease ecology consequences of these dynamics.

We study the forces driving the ecological and evolutionary dynamics of pathogenic microbes.

Consequently our work also provides new insight into the ecological, evolutionary, and molecular forces driving plasmid dynamics.
