My thesis research focuses on vascular reorganization and axonal regeneration following traumatic spinal cord injury. Employing the use of bioengineered hydrogels embedded with combinations of trophic factors, I aim to 1) degrade the CSPGs contributing to the glial scar, 2) promote vascular reorganization, and 3) promote axonal regeneration through and beyond the lesion site, ultimately for the goal of tissue sparing and improved functional recovery.
