My research interests lie at the intersection of intergroup dynamics and relationship science. I examine how race influences different aspects of relationships development such as attraction, commitment, and personal narratives. My primary focus is with interracial romantic relationships and multiracial families. I have a developing interest in using a critical racial lens in the understanding of sexuality and sexual expression.
Dr. Brooks’ research focuses on the ways in which typical developmental processes in relationships (e.g., commitment, attraction, jealousy) unfold in the context of interracial or multiracial partnerships.
