Elisheva Cohen is a Postdoctoral Fellow in International Issues and Sustainable Development and a visiting lecturer in the Department of International Studies. In this position, she supports global learning and curriculum internationalization around international and sustainable development through research, teaching, and a range of programmatic activities. Elly holds a PhD in Comparative and International Development Education from the University of Minnesota and an MA from Columbia University Teachers College in International Educational Development. Her research draws on qualitative research methods to examine educational inclusion of minority students primarily in humanitarian settings, with a regional focus on the Middle East. Elly has extensive experience working in global settings, including studying abroad in Egypt and Israel, serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Morocco, and conducting her dissertation field research in Jordan. She has worked for a range of international development agencies, including UNICEF, the International Rescue Committee, CARE International, and the Inter-agency Network for Education in Emergencies. Before receiving her PhD, Elly worked as the Outreach Coordinator for the Middle East Studies Center at Portland State University where she supported education about the Middle East region at the K-12 level. She ran workshops, taught courses, developed curricula, and arranged public events about the Middle East region.
