Expertise

Dr. Bhakta has many clinical interests including cardiac arrhythmias, supraventricular tachycardia and catheter ablation of SVT, cardiac arrest/sudden cardiac death, risk stratification for sudden cardiac death, implantable cardiac device therapy (pacemakers, ICD, biventricular devices), and diagnostic features of implantable cardiac devices. His research interests involve non-invasive arrhythmia localization, features of SVTs, predictors of sudden cardiac death/ventricular arrhythmias, and diagnostic features of implantable cardiac devices.

Clinival Interests: Electrophysiology

Research focus pertains to cardiac rhythm disturbances and sudden cardiac arrest/death in special high-risk populations.  Work on arrhythmia-related complications in patients with neuromuscular conditions including myotonic dystrophy less led to original research and care-related publications.  Recently, research has focused on device-based therapy for the management of ventricular arrhythmias, in particular mechanisms and models of defibrillation failure and its impact on sudden death in ICD recipients.
