Neurophysiology of psychiatric disorders Electrophysiological effects of alcohol on the brain Neurophysiologist interested in the effects of alcohol and alcoholism. Dr. Morzorati’s research interests focus on elucidating the neurobiological mechanisms underlying psychiatric illnesses. In rodent models, she uses single cell recording techniques, iontophoresis, EEG and event-related potentials (ERPs) to investigate innate and drug-mediated electrophysiological parameters that distinguish normal from abnormal brain function. In family history positive and negative human subjects, she and colleagues use a number of parameters (subjective perceptions, eye movements, EEG, ERPs) to investigate the contribution of alcohol’s initial sensitivity and tolerance to the risk for alcoholism.
