Dr. Perumal's current research interests are focused on computational solutions to gene regulation problems in higher organisms, particularly in the area of transcriptional control mechanisms. His expertise is in studying immune systems during fetal and embryonic development. In this research, he employs computational tools such as pattern search algorithms, data mining techniques and supervised and unsupervised learning modalities.
