He comes to IU Health after A 30-year military career, including 16 years on faculty in the Department of Surgery at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences & Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, where he served in multiple roles, including Vice Chairman for Education, and Program Director of the General Surgery residency program.  Dr. Ritter has deployed multiple times in direct support of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom, and his clinical practice focuses on advanced laparoscopic and robotic gastrointestinal and hernia surgery.
