Expertise
Dr. von Gaudecker’s program of research focuses on generating knowledge to improve epilepsy care outcomes, and the quality of life of people living with epilepsy in developing countries. Specifically, her research focuses on socio-cultural context, behavioral mechanisms and health disparities that contributes to epilepsy treatment seeking behaviors, adherence and treatment efficacy. Her long-term goal is to be a nurse-scientist who works to improve quality of life of vulnerable populations living with stigmatized diseases in resource poor settings. She has been engaged in international, interdisciplinary collaborations that works towards improving epilepsy care outcomes. Dr. von Gaudecker teaches in the master program in Nursing Theory and Measurement and Data Analysis courses. She is a member of the American Epilepsy Society, and serves as a member and secretary for the International League against Epilepsy- North America Global Health Task Force.
