Expertise

Jessica's clinical nursing background includes extensive work in immunizations, infectious diseases, and maternal-child health in the community setting as a public health nurse. She has also worked as a nurse epidemiologist, monitoring and investigating the spread of infectious diseases within Indianapolis, Indiana. Jessica has over a decade of experience working with individuals, students, medical professionals, and community agencies to increase public health awareness and to improve the health of her community. Jessica began teaching at the undergraduate level in 2010, accepted a visiting lecturer position at Indiana University School of Nursing in 2016 and accepted a full time lecturer position in 2017. Jessica is deeply committed to student success and partnering with students in learning. Jessica also has research interests in community-engaged learning/ service learning and empathy development in undergraduate students.​
