Dr. Zimet has expanded his research focus to examine consent and ethical factors related to recruitment of adolescents into biomedical HIV prevention clinical trials.

Dr. Zimet's research interests include:

Prevention of HPV-related cancers through vaccination and screening. Specific interest are related to understanding potential barriers to acceptance of vaccination by parents and adolescents and potential reluctance among primary care physicians to implement vaccination guidelines. 2. Development and evaluation of behavioral interventions designed to increase HPV vaccination rates.

Research:

  • Psychosocial/behavioral and policy issues associated with acceptance of vaccines and of biomedical approaches to the diagnosis and prevention of sexually transmitted infections (e.g., HIV testing & pre-exposure prophylaxis or PrEP). Consent issues with recruitment of adolescents into biomedical prevention clinical trials.
