My dissertation explores how climate change exacerbates structural inequalities in society, how the urban poor mobilize for climate justice, and how states respond to the demands of their citizens facing environmental hazards.
For his dissertation, Dias examines the rights-seeking behavior of, and the provision of legal assistance for, the immediate victims of climate hazards in Brazil’s urban Amazon.
Research interests: Political sociology, law and society, organizational theory, political ecology, climate justice, and social movements.
