Expertise

My primary research focuses on the mechanism of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) in the prevention of colon cancer, and the role of cyclooxygenase-2 in colonic carcinogenesis. My laboratory investigates the molecular mechanisms governing the growth and transformation of intestinal epithelium. We currently focus on growth factors that are produced by intestinal subepithelial myofibroblasts. The long-term goal of our research is to improve the function of the gut in critical ill patients and to combat colon cancer.
