Expertise

Evander Price received his Ph.D. in American Studies from Harvard University in 2019, with expertise in American Literature and American Art History, and with a particular fascination with time, end-times, future time, and the normative implications of the various temporalities we inhabit.

His research asks us to consider why, at the present moment, there is so much renewed interest in time. Has climate change and the “Anthropocene” reinvigorated an older set of eschatological questions fixed on the world’s inevitable end?
During his two years at CRH (2020-2022), Dr. Price will be pursuing a research project on "Chronocriticism: Time, Ethics, and Apocalypse," exploring the ways in which imaginaries of the future intersect with the study of ethics, environmental studies, religion, eschatology, utopianism, posthumanism, ecocriticism, and cultural history.
