I am also currently working on research topics in energy economics looking at subsidies for renewable energy and economic impacts from unconventional gas and oil, marine economics looking at preferenes for sustainable seafood.
Areas of Expertise: Environmental and resource economics, non-market valuation, integer programming and optimization
My main research is focused on studying the intersection of land use, ecosystem services, and conservation. I use choice experiment surveys to analyse public preferences for ecosystem services and environmental policy, and dynamic and spatial resource allocation models to study optimal land use.
My research applications focus on
- grasslands in Illinois
- riparian ecosystem services in Oregon
- REDD+ payments in Nepal and Ethiopia
- coral reefs in Okinawa, Japan
- improved stove adoption in Ethiopia
- conservation within military installations
In addition, I am also currently working on
- preferences for sustainable seafood labels
- spatially explicit subsidies for renewable energy generation
- general equiblirium models of environmental taxation
- dynamic models of economic systems using Stella
- optimal school districting using integer programming methods
