Her research focuses on 20th/21st-century French literature, culture and cinema with an emphasis on Holocaust narratives and films. Her publications cover a wide range of topics related to Vichy France and the Shoah and have appeared in academic journals such as History & Memory; Holocaust Studies: Journal of Culture & History; French Review; Women in French Studies; French Historical Studies to name a few.

Dr. Brunetaux's current research projects examine and challenge France’s systemic racism and color-blindness through a critical analysis of French film, performance, visual arts, and new media.
