My current research involves the control of the mare’s reproductive cycle including ovulation induction and management of the anestrous and transition period. This has led to the investigation of a novel peptide (kisspeptin) believed to control many aspects of the reproductive cycle of the mare. Research of kisspeptin may allow better understanding of the mare’s cycle allowing more consistent methods of manipulation and breeding. I have also been involved with the investigation of new methods for estrus suppression in mares.
Clinical interests involve theriogenology (reproduction) of all species including cattle, camelids, sheep and goats, with a particular interest in equine and canine theriogenology.
