Research Interests:
- Equine vision – use of streak retinoscopy and novel vision testing approaches to evaluate vision more objectively in horses; The use of intravitreal injections of gentamicin for the treatment and long-term management of equine uveitis; The use of indocyanine green photodynamic therapy to manage various types and forms of infectious and immune-mediated keratitis in the horse; Digital infrared imaging to better understand anterior segment disease in horses and other species. Ophthalmic surgery in the horse under standing sedation.
Dr. McMullen teaches classes in ophthalmology and conducts research in the area of vision, equine recurrent uveitis and immune mediated keratitis, particularly, novel methods of disease management by intravitreal injections and photodynamic therapy.
