Keywords: Discipline: Dairy Nutrition Fundamental relationships between nutrient utilization and efficient milk production and growth in dairy cattle.

The effects of protein and forage sources on lactating dairy cows and growing calves have been studied extensively. A primary objective ofthe protein studies is to determine the amount of feather meal which can be used in dairy diets.

The results from research will provide information related to rumen undegradable protein which may be used by NRC for making recommendations on dairy heifer and lactating cow nutrient requirements.

In addition to nutrition studies, management systems to alleviate heat stress in dairy cattle have been investigated extensively.
