Dr. Bardeen's research is broadly focused on information processing and emotion regulation in the development and maintenance of anxiety- and fear-related pathology. Within this broader context, he is particularly interested in the use of higher-order cognitive abilities, such as executive attention, to alleviate emotional distress.
The majority of research conducted in the lab focuses on how people relate to and regulate internal experience, and how such regulation, or lack thereof, can result in short- and long-term emotional distress.
​Additionally, in the past few years, Dr. Bardeen and other members of the lab have become increasingly interested in scale development and validation research.
