Teaching Interests

  • Exercise Physiology & Cardiovascular Physiology

Research Interests:

  • Investigating racial disparities in cardiovascular function and the underlying causes of these disparities
  • Investigating the effects of dietary salt on vascular function and autonomic control of blood pressure
  • Determining the influence of oxidative stress on neurovascular function in hypertension, and in the context of racial disparities in cardiovascular health

Current Research Interests

  • Investigating racial differences in neurovascular function in response to high dietary salt.
  • Determining the role of lifestyle (e.g., physical activity, diet, and sleep) in contributing to blood vessel function and neural control of blood pressure.
  • Investigating the contribution of oxidative stress (high levels of free radicals) on autonomic control of the circulation.
