Willoughby is an expert in the areas of molecular ecology and evolution, conservation genetics and genomics.

Broadly, Willoughby is interested in how wild populations evolve, and in particular how populations evolve in response to changes in their environment. Her research relies heavily on next-generation sequencing data coupled with computationally intensive analyses of these data, characterization of various genetic markers and pedigrees, and agent-based models.

Our research focuses on population genetics of wild populations, with applications to disease and conservation.

Research:

  • Agent-based Modeling
  • Alaskan Caribou
  • Banner-tailed kangaroo rats
  • Epigenome Sequencing
  • Genetic mark-recapture of large populations
  • Steller sea lions.
