Expertise

Tumor pathobiology; reproductive hormones in primary mammary tumors and cell lines; neurofibromatosis; skin and reproductive pathology.

My research interests focus on cancer. One project involves investigation of estrogen and progesterone receptors (ER and PR) and luteinizing hormone releasing hormone (LHRH) receptors in canine mammary tumors and cell lines. Currently, studies in this laboratory involve developing canine mammary tumor cell lines which contain LHRH receptors for in vitro testing of LHRH receptor analogs as inhibitors of canine mammary tumor cell growth. Another project area involves investigation of bovine cutaneous neurofibromatosis, which occurs in a group of Alabama dairy cattle. Studies currently underway involve characterization of the cattle disease, pedigree analysis, molecular genetics, and disease transmission.
