My primary research goals are directed toward understanding nucleon structure, and the QCD effects governing it. Here I concentrate on the quantitative understanding of transverse spin phenomena. They are a primary tool by which we can test our knowledge gained, for example, from models or lattice calculations. They are also very challenging, due to the complex interplay between soft and hard scale effects and, possibly, non-perturbative interactions with the QCD vacuum. To disentangle these, we need the input from many experiments and configurations, like semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering (SIDIS), electron-positron annihilation and proton-proton scattering. Currently I am investigating these effects in polarized proton scattering at RHIC and electron-positron annihilation at KEK.
