Dr. Monika Fischer is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. Her clinical interests include inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) and small bowel diseases. Her research interests include biomarkers of disease activity and severity in Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, fecal microbiota transplantation, Clostridium difficile infections, small bowel endoscopy, and clinical trials in IBD.

Dr. Fischer provides specialty care for patients with inflammatory bowel diseases, including Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, microscopic colitis, celiac disease, and small bowel diseases. Treatments and procedures include:

  • Upper endoscopy and colonoscopy for a variety of gastrointestinal diseases
  • Image-enhanced endoscopic procedures such as chromoendoscopy 
  • Deep device-assisted enteroscopy (double balloon endoscopy)
  • Fecal microbiota transplantation for recurrent and severe Clostridium difficile infections
