Expertise

The Guise laboratory research interests encompass skeletal and muscular complications of malignancy and the effect of cancer treatment on musculoskeletal health. Dr. Guise's clinical interests include diseases of calcium and bone metabolism.

Specifically, Dr. Guise studies the molecular mechanisms by which tumor cells interact with bone cells to cause either bone destruction (osteolytic metastases) or new bone formation (osteoblastic metastases) and effects of bone metastases on skeletal muscle function.

Research interests include musculoskeletal complications of cancer and cancer treatment, with a specific focus on understanding bone loss and muscle dysfunction in the setting of bone metastases and cancer treatment-induced bone loss.
