I conceived, designed & conducted an epidemiological study looking at prevalence and principle determinants of protein energy malnutrition (PEM) among rural primary school children. In this study conducted during my internship, we collected epidemiological data from 3500 school children, we found prevalence of protein energy malnutrition at staggering 67%. The hypothesis that addiction in parents is one of the prime determinant of PEM was also validated in this study.
I am a fully trained surgical oncologist with special interest in breast cancer.
I have also received some training in epidemiology and have an aptitude for statistics.
I am very well conversant with clinical research, having conducted few randomised trials myself.
My past research experience is as follows:
Epidemiological research:

Clinical & Basic Research:
During past three years, I have designed various laboratory studies and new clinical trials with basic research component. These studies are at various stages like IRB approval, Funding approval, Implementation, Interim analysis etc. these studies mainly deal with various aspects of breast cancer research viz. Cancer cell dissemination, impact of locoregional therapy, dynamics of lymphatic flow, prognostication, chemotherapy response marker testing & gene expression analysis by DNA Microarray. Apart from this I have designed & conducted a randomised trial to test effectiveness of two antibiotic protocols in orthopaedic surgeries.
I also serve as Editorial Consultant for the LANCET and as reviewer for JCO and J pathology.
