Her research focuses on developing and evaluating interventions, such as telehealth, to improve access to and the quality of care for children living with sickle cell disease.

Dr. Jacob’s primary area of research is focused on the use of telemedicine as a means of improving access to care for children in medically underserved areas.

Dr. Jacob cares for a variety of patients with blood disorders, but her primary area of interest is in caring for patients with sickle cell disease as part of Riley’s Comprehensive Sickle Cell Program.  Other areas of interest include red cell disorders, cytopenias, health care policy, and health care access.
