He went on to the University of Michigan to complete a renowned hand and microsurgery fellowship, focusing on complex reconstruction for both adult and pediatric patients.

His practice was based exclusively at the Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, where he practiced general plastic surgery and upper extremity reconstruction for children.

Dr. Adkinson is interested in complex upper extremity reconstruction in adults and children.

Dr. Adkinson has published 38 peer-reviewed articles and 16 book chapters in plastic surgery and hand surgery and serves on multiple committees for the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and American Society for Surgery of the Hand. He has also given over 20 regional and national presentations on topics including hand surgery, hand trauma, and general reconstruction.
